A 200-ton press was used to exert downward force, causing severe deformation of the Grade 8.8 bolts, as well as the ductile iron flange and ear plates, under the external force.
These photos clearly shows significant deformation of the flange.
Even after disassembly, there was no evidence of fracture, only deformation. This illustrates the advantages of ductile iron flanges: excellent toughness, strong plasticity, and resistance to rust. They represent a new type of product replacing traditional flanges.
