Cooling Tower Introduction: The cooling tower is a comprehensive product integrating aerodynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, chemistry, biochemistry, materials science, static and dynamic structural mechanics, processing technology, and other disciplines. Water quality is a multivariable function, and cooling involves multiple factors, multivariables, and multiple effects.

The cooling tower is a device that uses water as a circulating coolant to absorb heat from a system and release it into the atmosphere to lower the water temperature. Its cooling process involves the exchange of heat between water and air flow, resulting in steam generation. The steam evaporates to carry away heat through principles such as evaporative heat dissipation, convective heat transfer, and radiative heat transfer, thereby dissipating the waste heat generated in industrial or air conditioning applications to reduce water temperature. The device is typically barrel-shaped, hence the name “cooling tower.”

Sound energy is emitted from cooling towers and is recorded at given distances and directions. The sound is a result of the movement of air affected by the decrease in water quality, which is caused by the movement of fans. This movement occurs in the structure of fan blades, motors, gearboxes, and transmission belts.

Closed cooling towers are a variation and development of traditional cooling towers. They are essentially a combination of an evaporative cooler and a wet cooling tower. It is a horizontal evaporative cooler where the process fluid flows through tubes while air flows outside the tubes, with no contact between the two. Water from the reservoir at the bottom of the tower is evenly sprayed outside the tubes after being extracted by a circulation pump. It does not come into contact with the process fluid, hot water, or refrigerant and outside air, making it a closed-loop cooling tower that enhances heat and mass transfer effects through water spray.
